Chemical Properties

It is white or white like crystalline powder, insoluble in aqueous solution pH≤4, slightly soluble in water, phosphate buffer pH 7.4, acetonitrile, slightly soluble in ethanol, easily soluble in methanol.

Uses

A selective, competitive HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor. Atorvastatin is the only drug in its class specfically indicated for lowering both elevated LDL-cholesterol and triglycerides in patients with hypercholesterolemia.
