Recently, according to market sources, BASF plans to overhaul its 300,000-ton/year toluene diisocyanate (TDI) plant in Ludwigshafen, Germany, in early March.

A source said: "The facility is expected to be overhauled from early March to the end of May as planned, but we do not know the specific overhaul date." BASF declined to comment. A company spokesperson said: "We do not comment on the maintenance and operation rate of the plant."

Another source speculated that from the end of February, TDI production may begin to slow down in preparation for overhauls.

BASF’s Ludwigshafen TDI plant declared force majeure on August 31, 2020 after encountering technical problems. A company spokesperson confirmed that after several attempts to restart, the company lifted the force majeure of the TDI factory on November 30, 2020.
