On August 10, the 2020 Fortune Global 500 list was announced. According to reports, the operating income of the Fortune Global 500 companies in 2020 reached 33 trillion US dollars, a record high, close to the combined GDP of China and the United States. There are a total of 133 companies in China on the list. The most noticeable change in this year's ranking is undoubtedly that mainland Chinese companies have achieved a historic leap, surpassing the United States for the first time.
In the 2020 Fortune 500 list, Wal-Mart became the world's largest company for the seventh consecutive year, Sinopec still ranked second, State Grid rose to third, PetroChina ranked fourth, and Shell Oil fell to fifth.
There are a total of 25 new and re-listed companies on the Fortune Global 500 list this year, of which 8 are newly listed Chinese companies. They are: Shanghai Construction Engineering, Shenzhen Investment Holdings, Sheng Hong, Shandong Iron and Steel, Shanghai Pharmaceuticals, Guangxi Investment, China Nuclear Industry and China Coal Energy.
The average sales revenue of mainland Chinese companies reached 66.9 billion U.S. dollars, an increase compared with last year's figure. Compared with Fortune 500 companies horizontally, the two indicators of average sales revenue and average net assets of Chinese companies have reached the average level of the Fortune Global 500.
This year’s Fortune Global 500 list companies’ operating income reached 33 trillion U.S. d ollars, a record high and close to the combined GDP of China and the United States. The threshold (minimum sales revenue) to enter the rankings has been raised from 24.8 billion US dollars to 25.4 billion US dollars.
In this year's Fortune Global 500 rankings, Sinopec ranked second in the Fortune Global 500 with US$407 billion in operating income, the same as last year's ranking.
According to Sinopec's 2019 annual performance report, Sinopec's turnover and other operating income were RMB 2.97 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 2.6%, a record high.
In terms of exploration and development, Sinopec’s annual oil and gas equivalent production in 2019 was 458.92 million barrels, of which domestic crude oil production was 249.43 million barrels and natural gas production was 1,047.78 billion cubic feet, a year-on-year increase of 7.2%.
In terms of refining, the production of gasoline and jet fuel increased, and the output of high value-added products was increased. The diesel-gasoline ratio fell to 1.05; the annual processing of 249 million tons of crude oil and 160 million tons of refined oil products, a year-on-year increase of 3.4%, of which gasoline production increased by 2.6% , Kerosene output increased by 7.8%.
In the chemical industry, the annual output of ethylene was 12.49 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 8.5%, the differentiation rate of synthetic fibers reached 90%, and the proportion of new synthetic resin products and special materials reached 65.3%. The total operating volume of chemical products for the year was 89.5 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.3%, a record high.

Compared with last year, Sinopec's comprehensive energy consumption per 10,000 yuan output value decreased by 0.4% year-on-year in 2019; industrial fresh water intake decreased by 1.1% year-on-year; wastewater COD discharge decreased by 2.1% year-on-year; sulfur dioxide emissions decreased by 3.9% year-on-year; solid waste was properly disposed of The rate reaches 100%.
