In fact, from July to the middle of September, the domestic EVA market began to pull up. In the middle of September, the rise slowed down and adjusted steadily. In October, the market again took power, starting the second wave of upward trend.


This round of market is mainly started by the South China market, and it is jumping up. In the late October, the average daily market increase reached 300 yuan / ton, and some manufacturers' quotations jumped by 2000 yuan directly!


From January to September 2020, the domestic EVA output was 529600 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.1%; the import volume was about 871100 tons, up 8.72% year-on-year. From January to September, the total supply of EVA was 1.4 million tons, an increase of 47000 tons compared with last year, with a year-on-year increase of 3.5%.


On the whole, there is no sharp reduction in market supply in the near future, and the driving force of market price surge is not the supply side.


EVA is a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate, Due to the introduction of vinyl acetate monomer into the molecular chain of EVA, the crystallinity is reduced, the flexibility, impact resistance, filler solubility and thermal sealing property are improved, and the environmental stress cracking (ESCR) resistance, good optical properties, low temperature resistance and non-toxic characteristics are widely used in foaming materials, functional film, packaging film, injection molding products, blow molding products, etc Foam injection products, blending agents and mixture, wire and cable, photovoltaic cell packaging film and hot melt adhesive and other fields. In addition, EVA resin can also be used as modified raw materials of other resins.


It should be noted that the performance of EVA has a great relationship with the content of vinyl acetate (VA). At present, the VA content of EVA resin ranges from 5% to 40%, and the lowest content can reach 1%. When the content of VA increases, its resilience, flexibility, adhesion, transparency, solubility, stress cracking resistance and impact performance will be improved; when the content of VA decreases, the rigidity, wear resistance and electrical insulation of EVA will increase. Generally speaking, when the VA content is in the range of 10% - 20%, it is a plastic material, and when the VA content is more than 30%, it is an elastic material, which is also often said to be a high-end brand. The production process and application range of different contents are quite different.


In the fourth quarter of 2020, the global demand for photovoltaic modules will rise sharply.


The structure of photovoltaic module mainly includes photovoltaic glass, photovoltaic film, cell sheet and photovoltaic backplane.


The photovoltaic glass and cells are bonded together with EVA adhesive film to form a stack; the lamination is pressed into a whole by a laminating machine; the laminated layer is put into the aluminum frame with silica gel / adhesive tape, and then a junction box is installed; after the silica gel is solidified, a photovoltaic module is made.


In the photovoltaic industry, EVA is mainly used in the use of photovoltaic packaging film. The adhesive film and backplane are the key packaging materials of solar cell module, which play the role of packaging and protection for solar cell module, and can improve the photoelectric conversion efficiency and prolong the service life of the module.


For photovoltaic packaging film manufacturers, the main raw material is EVA resin, which accounts for 90% of the company's total raw materials.


From January to September in 2020, the output of photovoltaic cells will reach 118.61 million kilowatts, up 37.5% year-on-year, equivalent to 530000 tons of EVA resin demand, an increase of 146000 tons compared with the same period last year.


As mentioned earlier, the domestic EVA supply increased by about 47000 tons in the same period. Roughly calculated, there is a supply gap of nearly 100000 tons in the domestic EVA market this year, which has not considered the demand of adhesives, cables and other industries! In the face of such a huge supply gap, it is not surprising that EVA market price soared!


After the crazy rise in silver October, market sentiment may take a break in early November. However, from the perspective of supply, the 100000 t / a EVA / LDPE plant of Lianhong new materials has been shut down on November 1, and it is estimated that the overhaul will take about 8 days. The supply of Formosa Plastics and sipang in Ningbo is also relatively shrinking, and many brands are out of stock and restricted for sale.


In terms of import market, the new price negotiation from November to December was limited, and the US $7a50h and 7a60h markets of Formosa Plastics were suspended. Overall, the EVA market will continue to be in the state of supply less than demand from November to December, and the market price may remain high in the short term.
