According to foreign media reports recently, the construction of a comprehensive facility containing ethane gas (CPECG) near the settlement of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region has begun. CPECG is the world's only natural gas processing, natural gas chemistry and natural gas liquefaction cluster. CPECG will be composed of two major companies. The first is a natural gas processing and liquefaction complex (a natural gas processing company or CPECG’s GPC). The operator of the project is RusKhimAlyans, a joint venture between Gazprom and RusGazDobycha. The second is the natural gas chemical complex that is technically affiliated with GPC (CPECG's GCC; the operator of the project is Baltic Chemical Complex, a subsidiary of Russian gazdobycha). CPECG’s GPC will have the largest production capacity in Russia, will be one of the world’s largest production capacity companies in terms of natural gas processing (45 billion cubic meters per year), and will take the lead in Western Europe’s LNG production (13 million tons of LNG per year) . The remaining natural gas after processing will enter the gas transmission system of Gazprom, about 18 billion cubic meters per year.
