According to the German "Süddeutsche Zeitung" reported that the German chemical company BASF (BASF) will donate 100 million protective masks to the German government. In addition, BASF will donate 1 million masks to the German Rhineland-Palatinate region. According to reports, these masks will be purchased from China and ready to be shipped to Germany.
The headquarters of BASF is located in Ludwigshafen in the state. With approximately 35,000 employees, it is BASF's largest production base in the world.
BASF Executive Board Chairman Martin Brudmüller said: "This emergency can only be responded to by all of us together. Therefore, we are using the company's procurement network and logistics support in China to help."
BASF will bear the cost of purchasing and transporting masks. These masks will be distributed by the Federal Ministry of Health and the Rhineland-Palatinate Social Affairs, Youth and Welfare Agency.
Donation of masks is one of several initiatives of BASF for the new coronavirus assistance operation.
BASF also said that the company has created a production capacity of 1 million liters of disinfectant in Germany alone, and currently about 150,000 liters of disinfectant has been distributed to medical institutions and nursing homes for free. BASF also started producing disinfectants in France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, Turkey and the United States, and donated them to fight the new coronavirus.
BASF's official website stated that in addition to disinfectants, BASF's teams around the world are also committed to helping the region to mitigate the impact of the new crown epidemic crisis through donations and other activities.
