Construction of the "Big Mac" approach project is busy

It is 63 meters high, 13 meters in diameter, and weighs 1,325 tons. Workers have to rely on lift trucks to work on it. A reporter from Hainan Daily saw this "giant" at the construction site of the Hainan Refinery and Chemical Million-tonne Ethylene Project on August 23. "Macro" is the quench oil tower that was transferred to just 2 days ago.

"After it is'dressed and hat', its weight will increase by 160 tons." Yang Wenxue, a branch manager of the construction management department of the project, said. The so-called "dress and hat" means adding to the bare tower itself. Install various accessories such as welding work platforms, ladders, pipelines, and perform anti-corrosion and thermal insulation construction on the tower body.

It takes about 25 days to "dress and hat" the quench oil tower body. The quench oil tower is not the number one "Big Mac" on the project. The heaviest No. 2 propylene tower is 110 meters high and has a lifting weight of 1,601 tons. In addition, the ethylene tower weighing 560 tons entered the site on August 4, and the quench water tower weighing 1,060 tons was transferred to the project site on August 11. The entry of these "Big Macs" marks the entry of the Hainan Refining & Chemical's million-ton ethylene project into the full installation stage of production facilities.

In order to hoist the "big Macs" on the project, Sinopec Shipping Company specially dispatched the largest domestic XGC88000 4000-ton crawler crane from Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province to the construction site to help. At the same time, two 400-ton crawler cranes, one 300-ton crawler crane and 280-ton crawler crane were arranged to cooperate to ensure the smooth completion of the hoisting.

As a key engineering project of our province and Sinopec Group, the Hainan Refining & Chemical Million-tonne Ethylene Project started civil construction in early January this year, almost a day, and the steel structures being installed are connected together.

At the project construction site, there are also 8 ethylene cracking furnaces that are also speeding up the installation, which is the core equipment of the entire project. Yang Wenxue introduced that in order to overcome the difficulties of small construction sites, complex equipment structures, large welding works, and many cross-operations, since the installation of the ethylene cracking furnace began on April 30 this year, the construction unit has been continuously optimizing the construction plan, and according to the project Progress gradually increased manpower and equipment. "The ethylene cracking furnace is 72 meters high, and the weight of a single unit is 3,300 tons. The welding engineering volume of the ethylene cracking furnace and the pipe gallery in front of the furnace has reached one third of the entire ethylene plant project." Yang Wenxue said, even though the engineering volume is huge, the ethylene plant The construction time of the project can still be completed half a year earlier than the fixed time limit.

The estimated investment of Hainan Refining & Chemical’s million-ton ethylene and refining expansion project is 28.079 billion yuan. It is an important part of Sinopec’s construction of the "one base, two wings, three new" industrial structure and the world’s leading clean energy chemical company. It is of great significance. After the project is completed and put into production, it is expected to drive more than 100 billion downstream industries and become an important "engine" for the future development of Hainan Province.

According to reports, the project plans to invest 10 billion yuan this year, and 6.87 billion yuan has been completed by the end of July this year. Wang Weizhong, Engineering Director of Hainan Refining & Chemical’s Megaton Ethylene Project Management Department, stated that according to the goals set by the project construction, the project will be completed by the end of this year. 90% of the installation is completed, laying a solid foundation for the project to be completed and put into production on September 30 next year.
