Recently, the 90000 T / a olefin catalytic cracking (OCC) unit with the complete technology of Shanghai Institute of petroleum and chemical industry (hereinafter referred to as "Shanghai Institute") was successfully started up in LianHong New Material Technology Co., Ltd., marking the industrial transformation of the new generation OCC technology of Shanghai Institute of petroleum and chemical industry (hereinafter referred to as "Shanghai Institute") and continuous innovation and breakthrough progress.


OCC is a new technology to convert C4 / C5 olefins into propylene and ethylene, which has become an important way to increase olefin production. Since 2000, Shanghai Institute of technology began to study OCC technology. In 2009, it realized industrial transformation for the first time, and successively built industrial units in Zhongyuan Petrochemical, Zhongtian hechuang and Zhongan coal chemical. In recent years, Shanghai Institute of technology has started the development of a new generation of high yield OCC technology, developed a new generation of catalyst, and innovated the reaction process. The yield of diene (propylene plus ethylene) was significantly improved. In October 2020, the new generation of OCC technology has successfully realized industrial transformation. At present, the operation is stable, the feed load of the reactor reaches 108%, and the diene yield exceeds the contract value.


Experts said that the successful industrial transformation of the new generation of OCC technology marks the improvement of Shanghai Institute's independent innovation ability and plays a key demonstration role in further expanding market share. After the implementation of the project, it will effectively improve the output of ethylene and propylene, enhance the comprehensive value of C4 resources, and provide technical support for enterprises to reduce costs and increase efficiency.


The application of OCC technology in coal chemical industry has significantly improved the competitiveness of coal to olefin industry. In addition, OCC technology can also provide solutions in building chemical refineries, coping with oil upgrading, and improving olefin yield of ethylene plants. Olefin cracking process has become an important bridge connecting petroleum and coal resources with propylene and ethylene products in petrochemical and coal chemical industries, and has broad application prospects.
