On October 13, Wacker Chemie AG announced that it will further expand its polymer business in China and has invested approximately US$100 million to build two new production facilities at its Nanjing production base.
WACKER Group will build a vinyl acetate-ethylene (VAE) copolymer emulsion reactor and a VAE redispersible latex powder spray drying equipment on the basis of the existing facilities in the Nanjing production base. The construction of the new equipment can begin once the final approval of the local government department is obtained. The new reactor and spray drying equipment are scheduled to be put into operation in the second half of 2022. After completion, it will be the largest production facility of its kind in the world.
The expansion project will more than double the production capacity of WACKER’s Nanjing production base, which can better meet the growing demand for high-quality adhesives in China’s booming construction industry.
China is the world's largest construction application market, accounting for 20% of total global construction investment. The expansion of the production capacity of the Nanjing production base will further strengthen our position as the world's leading manufacturer of vinyl acetate-vinyl emulsions and redispersible latex powders
WACKER produces VAE emulsions, redispersible latex powders and polyvinyl acetate solid resins in an integrated production base located in Nanjing Jiangbei New Material Technology Park. Concentrating polymer production in China to the same production base can bring synergies to WACKER: Benefits of scale can be achieved through infrastructure sharing and centralized energy supply.
WACKER Nanjing production site: WACKER produces VINNAPAS® brand emulsions and redispersible latex powders at this comprehensive production site. These two products can be used as binders in the construction industry, coatings and adhesives
