Jimin Trust Group recently announced that its subsidiary Shanghai Jiyu Pharmaceutical Technology Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "Shanghai Jiyu") has received approval from the United States FDA for clinical trials of its innovative drug JMKX003142 oral tablets in patients with polycystic kidney disease.
Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is commonly found in middle and young age, and the incidence is about 1/400 -- 1/1000. It is estimated that there are 12.5 million patients worldwide, and 1.5 million patients in China. [1] Due to the lack of targeted treatment drugs, about 40-50% of these patients will develop end-stage renal disease and have to undergo dialysis or kidney transplantation, which puts a great burden on patients' families and society.
JMKX003142, independently developed by Shanghai Jiyu Small Molecule Innovation Research Institute, is the first innovative drug research and development project for polycystic kidney disease in China, and has the potential of the best BIC in the world. Preclinical animal efficacy studies and safety evaluation showed that JMKX003142 could inhibit the proliferation of LLC-PK1 cells in a dose-dependent manner and inhibit the growth of human ADPKD renal vesicle cells, avoiding the side effects caused by Hook effect (high concentration promotes proliferation instead) of other drugs, showing differentiated global competitiveness.
It is understood that JMKX003142 will soon be in a number of clinical trials. The hope is that in the near future, the drug will be a boon to many patients with ADPKD, which has no drug available.
