According to World Petroleum July 10, 2020, Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (SEMA) is currently seeking to appoint two new regular importers of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for this city country. On the basis of the two regular LNG suppliers, the businesses of these two new companies will be increased to promote competition and provide domestic gas buyers with more options.
As Singapore is transitioning to renewable energy, natural gas is expected to play an increasingly important role in the country’s energy structure.
Singapore’s major oil trading center, Singapore, has been expanding its LNG infrastructure, increasing storage capacity, and improving its ability to split large cargoes into smaller ones.
This energy regulator has issued a request for proposals so that SEMA can select and designate two new regular LNG importers, who will obtain natural gas importer licenses.
Importer's main function is to provide regasified liquefied natural gas to meet Singapore's domestic demand.
SEMA stated that the proposal must be submitted by November 9th, and Singapore will evaluate it based on its ability to provide reliable, safe and competitive LNG supply to Singapore.
