Good news from Sinopec! The 50,000-ton/year ethanolamine plant of Zhongke Refining & Chemical Co., Ltd. was successfully started up on November 30, producing superior grades of monoethanolamine, diethanolamine and triethanolamine. This is also the first ethanolamine plant of Sinopec!
Ethanolamine is an important fine organic chemical raw material, including three isomers: monoethanolamine (MEA), diethanolamine (DEA) and triethanolamine (TEA).
Monoethanolamine is mainly used in organic synthesis, and is widely used in the fields of pharmaceutical raw materials, pesticides, surfactants, polymer materials, papermaking, textile printing and dyeing, daily chemical products, etc., accounting for 20%-25% of the total ethanolamine market consumption;
Diethanolamine is mainly used in the synthesis of pesticides and detergents, and can also be used as a polyurethane foaming agent;
Triethanolamine is mainly used in daily chemical products, concrete manufacturing, and synthetic detergents.
The smooth commissioning of Zhongke Refinery’s ethanolamine plant further extends the downstream industrial chain of ethylene oxide products and unearths new profit growth points, marking the complete start-up of Zhongke Refinery’s liquid chemical plant.
The Sino-Science Refining and Chemical Integration Project is currently the largest joint refining and chemical project in China. It is a 50:50 joint venture between China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation and Kuwait National Petroleum Co., Ltd., and the overall plan is to refine 15 million tons/year. 1 million tons of ethylene per year, supporting the construction of a 300,000-ton crude oil terminal in the east island port area of Zhanjiang Port.
The project started construction on December 20, 2017. The first phase has a designed refining capacity of 10 million tons/year, an ethylene production capacity of 800,000 tons/year, as well as public works and supporting facilities.
