In cytomegalovirus infected cells, propoxyguanosine is phosphorylated to monovalent phosphate of propoxyguanosine by the action of deoxyguanosine kinase, Ganciclovir CAS NO.82410-32-0 can also be further phosphorylated to trivalent phosphate by some cell kinases. In cytomegalovirus infected cells, propoxyguanosine can be preferentially phosphorylated. The metabolism of propoxyguanosine trivalent phosphate was very slow, and 60-70% of it could be preserved after 18 hours.
