It is mainly used for the infection of sensitive tissues, such as pharyngeal and laryngopharyngeal infection, pyelonephritis, ear and throat infection, and nephritis |
Cefuroxime Sodium is the second generation cephalosporin antibiotics. The antibacterial activity against gram-positive cocci was similar to or slightly worse than that of the first generation cephalosporins, but the β - lactamases against Staphylococcus and gram-negative bacilli were quite stable. Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus, Enterococcus and Listeria were resistant, and other positive cocci (including anaerococcus) were sensitive to the drug. The antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus was lower than that of cefazolin. It has strong antibacterial activity against Haemophilus influenzae, Escherichia coli and Proteus mirabilis are sensitive to this product; indole positive Proteus, Citrobacter and Acinetobacter are not sensitive to this product, Serratia are mostly resistant, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Campylobacter and Bacteroides fragilis are resistant to this product.
