Aztreonam CAS NO.78110-38-0 can quickly pass through the outer membrane wall of gram-negative aerobic bacteria, and has a high affinity for penicillin binding protein 3 (PBP-3). By acting on PBP-3, it inhibits the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, leading to cell lysis and death. Aztreonam has a narrow antibacterial spectrum, and only has antibacterial effects on aerobic gram-negative bacilli, such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Serratia, Proteus mirabilis, Indole-positive Proteus, Citrobacter, and Influenza Haemophilus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and other Pseudomonas, certain Enterobacter species, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, etc. This product is highly stable to β-lactamase produced by many bacteria. It has no activity against gram-positive bacteria and anaerobic bacteria. Compared with ceftazidime and gentamicin, aztreonam has higher effects on aerobic bacillus and Enterobacter cloacae than ceftazidime, but lower than gentamicin; and lower effects on Pseudomonas aeruginosa than ceftazidime , Similar to gentamicin.
