Jak kinase inhibitor to treat rheumatoid arthritis |
It is used for moderate to severely active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) adult patients with insufficient response or intolerance to methotrexate therapy. This product is a Janus kinase inhibitor, taken twice a day. On November 6, 2012, a professional organization announced that tofacitinib citrate was approved for moderate to severe active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) adult patients who did not respond adequately or intolerant to methotrexate therapy. It can be used as a single treatment or in combination with methotrexate or other non-biological disease mitigating antirheumatic drugs (DMARD). This drug should not be used in combination with biological DMARDs or strong immunosuppressants (such as azathioprine and cyclosporine).
