On April 26, Hubei Yihua Degradable New Materials Co., Ltd. announced the draft of the environmental impact report on the annual production of 60,000 tons of biodegradable materials. The project is located in Yaojiagang Chemical Park (Tianjiahe Area) in Yichang, Hubei, with a total investment of 806.92 million yuan.
The project adopts advanced polycondensation technology, builds a 60,000-ton/year biodegradable material production device, and supports the construction of a tetrahydrofuran recovery workshop, with a by-product of 6,600 tons/year of tetrahydrofuran. Among them, PBAT and PBS share a production line, which produces 60,000 tons of PBAT or 40,000 tons of PBS per year.

2. Construction scale and product plan
1. Product scale plan
In this project, PBAT (polybutylene terephthalate adipate) and PBS (polybutylene succinate) share the same production line, and when the two products are produced separately, THF (tetrahydrofuran) is by-produced. When considering that the production line only produces one product per year, the project products and their corresponding production scales are as follows. After the completion of the project, the maximum production capacity is 60,000 tons/year PBAT (polybutylene terephthalate-adipate).
2. Product quality standards
The biodegradable PBAT chips produced by this project meet the requirements of the National Standard of the People’s Republic of China Biodegradable Polybutylene Adipate (PBAT) (GB/T32366-2015), and the biodegradation rate is greater than 60% .
PBS slices meet the requirements of the National Standard of the People’s Republic of China Biodegradable Polybutylene Succinate (PBS) (GB/T32366-2015) with a biodegradation rate greater than 60%.
The by-product THF (tetrahydrofuran) in the production process of the main product is refined and purified by the THF recovery workshop to obtain the by-product THF, which meets the "National Standard of the People's Republic of China for Industrial Tetrahydrofuran" (GB/T24772-2009) qualified product standard.
3. The raw material consumption is as follows
The main component of the additive is tetrabutyl titanate, relative density: 0.996, freezing point: -55℃, boiling point: 310~314℃, refractive index: 1.486~1.492, flash point: 76.7℃, appearance: colorless to light yellow transparent Liquid; Solubility: soluble in most organic solvents except ketones; Stability: It is easy to solidify into transparent flakes when placed in the air, and it will decompose in water and be flammable. The catalyst used in this project is added into the raw material and finally into the product.
