Effective immediately or as soon as permitted under existing contracts, BASF will increase the prices of polyols neopentyl glycol and 1,6-hexanediol (HDO) in Europe: 2,2-dimethylpropane-1,3-diol is a high quality intermediate, used in the production of polyester resin, unsaturated polyester resin, lubricants and plasticizers. 1,6-hexanediol (HDO) is used in the manufacture of industrial coatings, including low volatile organic compound formulations, polyurethanes, adhesives, and cosmetics. HDO can also be used as an active diluent in epoxy formulations, such as rotor blades for efficient production of modern wind turbines and building components for lightweight automotive applications.
