On the evening of October 25, China Shenhua Energy Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Shenhua", 601088), the world's largest listed coal company, released a report for the third quarter of 2020. The company's operating income from January to September was 166.103 billion yuan, down 6.60% year-on-year; the net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies was 33.562 billion yuan, down 9.51% year-on-year, and earnings per share were 1.687 yuan.
In a single quarter, China Shenhua achieved operating income of 61.09 billion yuan in the third quarter of this year, down 0.6% year-on-year; net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies was 12.9 billion yuan, up 0.5% year-on-year. As of September 30, China Shenhua's asset-liability ratio was 24.5%, a decrease of 1.1 percentage points from the end of the previous year.
Regarding the decline in operating income, China Shenhua explained that due to downstream demand and coal source organization, the Group’s coal sales volume and average sales price have decreased year-on-year; Electricity sales revenue of the power plant in January 2019.
In terms of operating data, China Shenhua’s commercial coal production from January to September was 216.7 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.2%. Coal sales were 323.5 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 2.5%; total power generation was 101.56 billion kWh, a year-on-year decrease of 12.9 %, the total electricity sold was 95.03 billion kWh, a year-on-year decrease of 13.1%.
China Shenhua was established in Beijing in November 2004, listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in June 2005, and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in October 2007. The main business of China Shenhua and its subsidiaries are the production and sales of coal and electricity, railway, port and ship transportation, and coal to olefins. The integrated business model of coal, power generation, railway, port, shipping, and coal chemical industry is its business and profit model.
The company achieved operating income of 241.871 billion yuan last year, a year-on-year decrease of 8.4%; realized net profit of 43.25 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1.4%; basic earnings per share was 2.17 yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1.4%.
