Renewable Energy Will Be At The Core Of Achieving Zero Emissions In Industry And Transportation

Recently, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) stated that achieving zero emissions in industry and transportation around 2060 through coordinated actions is a key requirement for controlling global temperature rise within 1.5 degrees Celsius. The use of renewable energy will become the core. With technological progress and the rapid decline of electricity costs, this trend will continue to develop.


IRENA data shows that industrial emissions account for nearly one-third of global carbon emissions. However, through a series of measures such as the use of renewable energy as a solution, zero emissions can be achieved. In this regard, IRENA has some suggestions to the government and industry:


Industrial

 1. Establish demonstration projects, organize and share learning results.

 2. Create demand for "green" materials.

 3. Increase public and private financial support in the field of technology research and development, and promote cross-border cooperation.

 4. Shift production to areas that have the potential to develop low-cost renewable energy to create new value and supply chains, while achieving emission reductions.

 5. Ensure large-scale production or countries that are expanding production use production technologies compatible with zero emissions.


Transportation

1. On the basis of existing industry international agreements, formulate a common zero-emission vision and strategy for international shipping and aviation, and jointly formulate a national and international road map supported by a wide range of stakeholders.

2. Establish demonstration projects involving low-carbon fuel use and new advancement design.

3. Create early demand for the provision and use of low-carbon transportation. Create low-carbon transportation demand to encourage investment and reduce costs.

4. Increase public and private capital investment and cross-border cooperation, and increase R&D investment in sustainable biomass supply, biofuel production, synthetic fuel production, and alternative promotion design.
