Russian Crude Oil Exports Fall, LNG Exports Rise

According to reports, data from the General Administration of Customs of the Russian Federation showed that Russia’s crude oil exports from January to July 2020 were 143.2 million tons, a decrease of 4.2% year-on-year. The total value of crude oil exports was US$43.9 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 36.6%.


Among them, the export of refined oil was 85.2 million tons, an increase of 4.2%. The total export value dropped by 28.7% to 28 billion U.S. dollars; diesel exports were 31.9 million tons, an increase of 5.9% year-on-year, and the total export value was 12.4 billion U.S. dollars, down 28.7% year-on-year; gasoline exports increased by 40.6% year-on-year to approximately 4 million. Tons, the total export value reached 1.6 billion US dollars, a decrease of 0.2%.


In July, Russia exported 17.5 million tons of crude oil, a year-on-year decrease of 24.4% and a month-on-month decrease of 13.7%. Crude oil exports totaled US$4.8 billion, down 53.7% year-on-year and 7.1% month-on-month; oil exports increased 0.9% year-on-year and fell 27.1% month-on-month to 10.5 million tons. The total export value exceeded US$2.7 billion, down 46.2% year-on-year, month-on-month. A decrease of 13.5%; diesel exports were 4.2 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 12.9%, and a month-on-month decrease of 8.7%. The total export value reached US$1.2 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 43.4% and a month-on-month increase of 0.2%.


In July, gasoline exports of 291,000 tons increased by 1.8% year-on-year and down 57.9% month-on-month. The total export value reached 86.4 million US dollars, down 47.9% year-on-year and 56.9% month-on-month.


From January to July 2020, natural gas exports were 104.6 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year decrease of 17.5%. The total export value dropped by 51.4% to US$12.5 billion; the export volume of liquefied natural gas reached 42.2 million cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 23.4%, and the total export value was US$4.9 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 0.7%.


In July, natural gas exports were 12.4 billion cubic meters, down 22.5% year-on-year and 10.1% month-on-month. The total export value was US$1.1 billion, down 58.9% year-on-year and down 5.4% month-on-month; exports of LNG reached 9.3 million cubic meters. A year-on-year increase of 93.8% and a month-on-month increase of 75.5%. The total export value increased by 2.1 times year-on-year and a month-on-month increase of 79.4%, exceeding US$1 billion.
