Sulfobutyl ether-β-cyclodextrin sodium is a novel pharmaceutical excipient belonging to the class of anionic, highly water-soluble cyclodextrin derivatives containing sulfonic acid groups. It effectively encapsulates drug molecules to form non-covalent complexes, thereby enhancing drug stability, water solubility, and safety profile while significantly improving the biological activity of the drug molecules. Additionally, it exhibits low nephrotoxicity, mitigates drug-induced hemolysis, and enables controlled drug release rates.
