Usage
|
1. It is an important precursor for the synthesis of bifidogenic factors and possesses numerous crucial physiological functions in organisms. Clinically, it is a drug for treating rheumatoid arthritis and rheumatic arthritis; it also serves as a food antioxidant, an additive in infant food, and a sweetener for diabetics.
2. It is a derivatized glucose monomer found in polymers such as bacterial cell walls, chitin, hyaluronic acid, and various glycans. D-GlcNAc is used to identify, differentiate, and characterize N-acetyl-β-D-hexosaminidase.
3. N-acetylglucosamine is a basic component unit of many important polysaccharides in biological cells, with the highest content particularly in the exoskeletons of crustaceans.
