N-(2-Chloro-6-methylphenyl)-2-[(6-chloro-2-methyl-4-pyrimidinyl)amino]-5-thiazolecarboxamide is an important pharmaceutical intermediate, primarily used in the synthesis of the antineoplastic drug dasatinib.

Dasatinib is a protein kinase inhibitor that can inhibit BCR-ABL kinase, SRC family kinases, and many other selective oncokinases, including c-KIT, ephrin (EPH) receptor kinases, and PDGFβ receptors. Clinically, it is mainly used for the treatment of adult patients with Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in chronic phase, accelerated phase, and blast phase (myeloid blast crisis and lymphoid blast crisis) who are resistant to or intolerant of imatinib mesylate. It is also indicated for the treatment of patients with Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ALL).
