Sulbactam API is an irreversible competitive β-lactamase inhibitor. It has relatively weak antibacterial activity by itself, but it can bind tightly to β-lactamase, rendering it inactive, thus protecting other β-lactam antibiotics from being destroyed by the enzyme. Clinically, Sulbactam API is often used in combination with penicillin antibiotics or cephalosporin antibiotics to treat various infections caused by β-lactamase-producing sensitive bacteria, such as respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, etc.
